Customizing the visible part of featured images

Hi. I love the theme but I can’t figure this out. By default Verbosa shows the top 200 pixels of the featured image. But that can look weird if you can’t tell what the top of the picture is. Can I customize it so it shows, for example, the middle 200 pixels of a featured image? Thanks!!!! Keep up the good work.
