    I need to use FTP to upload a pre-designed landing page into my site. I need the landing page to be a clean page with no header or link to any other page on my site.

    if your using WordPress I suggest Minimal Maintenance Mode by 69signals (plugin) allows you to set the page for anyone not signed in to only see what you load, but allows you to keep working on the site
