Set the thumbnail size 250 x 150. When the image is landscape – everything is fine. But for portrait width is set to 250, height obtained more than 150. That’s not very nice. How can I set the height of all the thumbnails height of not more than 150 (for example)?
November 22nd, 2014 at 11:43 #28345hansRunning into the same problem. I am using landscape (300×200) and portrait (200×300) images. Post previews set to 300×300. Landscape displays correctly, but portrait is resized (enlarged) to 300×450. Why 450? I defined 300. Changes in post preview size are correctly applied to image width, but height settings are disregarded. I hope for a solution. Any ideas, tips, help welcome.

If you want absolute sizes, you can use the force cropping option in WordPress.
Otherwise you need to be careful at the image sizes used.If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.

I am using preview images scaled to 200×300 (portrait) and 300×200 (landscape). I have set the theme’s post preview size to 300×300. Landscape previews are shown correctly, 300 wide and 200 high. But portrait previews are resized from 200 wide to 300 wide, resulting in a height that is 450 instead of 300. With such a difference in portrait and landscape image sizes the blog looks odd. I am not looking for a resize and crop to 300×300, but for a long side being 300, like the theme correctly does for landscape. At best with a placeholder for the empty areas to align the text between landsape and portrait blog entries horizontally. Am I doing it wrong? The theme I first tried (suits) at least shows the image size as expected, with a long side of 300 for both landscape and portrait. But it is by far not as good as your theme.
