Posts not showing correctly on Presentation Page

I don’t have a caching plugin, and tried disabling all plugins, then I switched to nirvana theme and this may have helped me resolve the issue.
I enabled “show posts on presentation page”, show 4, two rows.
Page show correct number of posts, with a page counter at the bottom [*front page setting not to latest posts, see below*], but the page doesn’t advance. If I click on 2, the url changes to /page/2/, but the posts do not change, and if you look at the page counter, “1” is still black (selected). Click on any page and the posts remain the same.
Yesterday, I had 5 sticky posts, again, showing only four posts in two rows. It listed 5 posts at the bottom and again, page wouldn’t advance.
I don’t know if this is two bugs or not, they could be related.
    1) page doesn’t advance, continues to show the same four posts no matter which page I click on.
    2) post status of “sticky” seems to affect the number of posts shown at the bottom of presentation page.

I activated Nirvana and similar problem. At first, no posts at all. Settings page told me to change read settings to front page display latest posts, which I did, and so the posts now show up. However, with number of posts to show set to 2 and 3 rows, the presentation page shows 7 posts (I have 5 sticky posts at the moment). I turned off sticky posts and refreshed and they display correctly. I see the add more button at the bottom (Tempera has pages,*see below*) and they load correctly. I made the same 5 posts sticky again, and again, 7 posts appear, 3 rows of 2 and 1 row of 1. I noticed that when I loaded more, the 4th row still only had one post in it, while the rest appears to load normally. I think I remember a setting where I could change the page listing at the bottom to “load more”. Anyway, I reactivated tempera and I don’t know what I did, but now the load more button is at the bottom instead of the page counter. Tempera now acts just like Nirvana. It was the settings>reading>front page settings. I put it back to front page static and set the post page and my page numbers at the bottom of the front page came back.
I am not sure what is going on. I believe setting front page to latest post solves my main issue. I prefer the load more button instead of pages anyway I think.
About the sticky posts. With show number of posts set to 4, and two rows, I got the following:
5 sticky posts = 7 posts on front page, row 4 only one, remains odd on load more.
4 sticky posts = 6 posts on front page, all looks good on load more
3 sticky posts = 5 posts on front page, row 3 only one, remains odd on load more.
2 sticky posts = 5 posts on front page, row 3 only one, remains odd on load more.
1 sticky posts = 5 posts on front page, row 3 only one, remains odd on load more.
0 sticky posts = all appears to work normally.

Sticky post issue not consistent. I just went through and added one sticky at a time and did not get the same results as above. However, front page is still showing more that four and still have the one odd row even after loading more.

CRAP! I just noticed that when I set font page setting to show latest posts, my blog page is now empty. I guess this makes sense. Does this mean that I cannot have a blog page AND show a few recent posts on the presentation page at the bottom? I was hoping to do both.

Sorry for the long post. I did a live debug there. I am going to leave it all. I hope you find something useful. It appears the only thing I identified was a possible issue (not severe) with sticky posts displaying on the front page. For a while, I will leave at least one post sticky and display 4 posts. You should see the five posts if you are interested in looking at that. I am going to change my reading settings back to static page so I can put my posts on the “Daily Compost” page. I will find something else to do with the presentation page if I can’t have my posts in both places.

Would you please answer the question about displaying posts on post page AND presentation page? Could be a simple answer.

Thanks for the plugin and you help. I am so pleased so far, I intend to buy you a cup of coffee soon.

I realize I can set presentation page columns to posts. I was trying to use both the presentation page columns AND the posts at the bottom. I think I can see now that won’t work. I will figure something out. Sorry to have wasted your time on this. Feel free to delete the post if there is nothing useful.
