background color in header content

Hi, I’m trying to change the background of the content portion of the header. I think it’s called #branding ? Can anyone point me in the direction of what custom css I need to use? I can change the whole header background in the menu, but that is the whole width of the page, I’m looking to change the width of the header within the content — ie leave a border around the content.
