Hi
I have a rather important plugin that seems to be preventing the slider on the presentation page from working. De-activating the plugin fixes the problem but I really need to use it.
Oddly, under Mantra I have no problems.
the Plugin is called “Showtime” and is used to display a schedule and “now playing” for a radio station.
any suggestions for a work around?
Dave
July 5th, 2013 at 15:09 #8603ZedCryout Creations mastermindThat’s odd.
I’ll have to do a bit of testing with that plugin to figure it out…

I am running the absolute latest WP
thanks for taking a look at it – I would really like to use this theme 🙂
July 6th, 2013 at 14:31 #8644ZedCryout Creations mastermindOkay, so that clarifies the oddness (since both themes use 95% the same code).
While that plugin is no longer maintained, I doubts its the culprit, as the slider works fine in my tests with the plugin installed.
Plus, I see your website is loading a jQuery copy from code.google.com, while my WordPress with Parabola and the Timeshow plugin load the local copy of jQuery.
Check your other plugins as well…

the slider works with all other plugins without any problem so it does appear to be the showtime plugin that is cause me the the issue.
“Plus, I see your website is loading a jQuery copy from code.google.com, while my WordPress with Parabola and the Timeshow plugin load the local copy of jQuery.” sorry I don’t understand this, can you explain further and suggest any ways to get around the issue.
I can work around the problem by not using the presentation page and construct one myself with a different slider that I know works with the ShowTime plugin but I cannot make it look as elegant as your presentation page 🙂
August 13th, 2013 at 20:39 #10956ŁukaszHi,
so i have the same problem. I’ve been writing on the main forum page about this, then i’ve found this “bug reporting” which seems to be more proper place to write this.
Just as Dave, i have the problem with presentation page slider not showing my posts.
I’ve trying to find info everywhere, and as for the moment haven’t found the answer.I love Your theme but really don’t know what to do with these issue, so please look on my page and help if You can.

LukeAugust 15th, 2013 at 14:40 #11030SarahHi,
For some reason the slider just won’t work on my website, I am very new to the theme so it may be that I just haven’t figured it out yet.
The presentation page is enabled, and I have uploaded several slides, but for some reason they just do not show up on the actual website.
Not really sure what to do- having read the above posts, I tried disabling the other plugins but this didn’t make a difference.
I have updated WordPress, so it is the most recent version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!Cheers,
SarahAugust 15th, 2013 at 23:30 #11047JennyI want to disable the slider on the presentation page, as I’m not needing it at all, but there’s badly no option for it 🙁 I’m using a child theme and all I found was (when I tried to find the right file for customizing, a function called
if ($mantra_frontpage=="Enable" && is_front_page() ) { mantra_frontpage_generator(); }
but haven’t found the code of the function right now ;(
How can I do that?
August 16th, 2013 at 19:46 #11084KayCryout Creations mastermindSo,:
Dave Thorpe seems to have the slider working. If you could tell us what the problem was that would be great.
Lukas wasn’t uploading Featured Images to the posts he used in the slider, that’s also fixed.
Sarah if you could re-enable the presentation page so we could have a look.
Jenny changed the theme.

sorry my question wasn’t very clear- I have clicked ‘enable’ on the presentation page setting, but for some reason it isn’t working, I don’t think it is actually being set as my homepage.
CheersAugust 17th, 2013 at 23:31 #11161Jo LynnHi, I’ve been trying to show random posts in the presentation sliders, but the bottom half of the slider is black. It’s very hard to read the text of the posts. I checked the color page but I can’t find where we can change this color. Can you please advise.

August 27th, 2013 at 20:41 #11698SarahThanks for your advice XB0n3, unfortunately I tried that but it didn’t work either!
I think it may have something to do with the url of my website?
I have 2 websites-
http://www.thecallrecorderstore.com
and
http://www.thecallrecorderstore.com/Blog/
and only the /Blog one is wordpress- that’s the one I’m trying to edit- I’m not really sure how it works to be honest but I think the problem could be to do with this?August 28th, 2013 at 15:41 #11734SarahVICTORY!
I installed mantra and the little ‘?’ symbol next to ‘enable the presentation page’ said to go to settings>Reading and make sure my homepage was set as ‘latest posts’, which I then did, and finally I have a presentation Page!
Might want to put that info back on there guys!
Thanks for your help everyoneAugust 29th, 2013 at 02:30 #11763AfrieLove your theme so much and would like to use it for my magazine website.
I just find the slider on the presentation page to be taking too much space on the top for a magazine website. Is there a way to reduce the size of the slider in two and move it to the side so I can use the other half side of the top page for some other widget like latest posts, latest news, etc?
ThanksSeptember 4th, 2013 at 17:43 #12023Ken DrabinskyI have not been able to solve the Presentation Page Slides portion by putting in my own pictures. I just copy the link however doesn’t preview no matter what size it is. What am I not doing?. Also when I try to put in a blog it won’t finish downloading.
September 5th, 2013 at 05:59 #12042MichaelI’m not sure if this solves the problem anyone is having with the Slider not working in Parabola, but it should work fine with the following settings:
1) Go to Parabola Settings > Presentation Page > Slides. In the “Slides Content” box, select “Sticky Posts”. In the box under this you can select the Maximum number of slides you want to appear in the Slider.
2) Make your slides (images) a “Post” instead of a “Page”, etc.
3) On right hand side of page under Publish > Public > (Check the box: “Stick this post to the front page”)
4) Under Format, select “Image”
5) Under Featured Image, select the same image as in step #2, to be displayed in the Slider
You can add as many Posts (images) as you like as opposed to being limited to only (5) if you select “Custom Slides” in step #1 above.
That’s it!
September 17th, 2013 at 03:03 #12340NathalieI can’t get the entire presentation page to load onto my site. It seems to be going to previous home page from previous site. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
September 17th, 2013 at 03:18 #12343NathalieWas able to load the presentation page but now the slider won’t load.
October 9th, 2013 at 22:56 #12890DonI tried these steps and the slider still has the spinning circle. I also don’t know why my posts keep disappearing. This is my fourth time posting here about this. I’m glad I didn’t send my $25.00 because this thing just isn’t working.

Post by uQuitSmoking DeveloperOctober 19th, 2013 at 16:53 #13094ZedCryout Creations mastermindDon, did you add featured images to the posts you use in the slider?
As for disappearing posts… the theme has nothing to do with posts.

November 1st, 2013 at 05:18 #13319MicahHi there! I am have been trying to update the sliders, but after selecting a photo to upload, the field is empty and nothing shows up. It looks like the photo uploads to Media successfully, but is unable to be selected as a slide after repeated attempts. I have also restarted my browser but get the same results. I noticed an update to Parabola regarding the Presentation page and wondered if that has anything to do with it. I LOVE this theme and if this can be resolved, I can get paid and send a $25 donation. 🙂
Thanks for your help!

December 17th, 2013 at 15:30 #14811AntoineHi,
I am planning to use Parabola for a project of mine. Is this page slider issue solved ?Thanks,
December 18th, 2013 at 18:34 #14863GusHi,
I have the same problem with the slider on my blog. It only shows a circle, circling…
My images are in the correct size and I deactivated all my plugins except Akismet and Maintenance Mode, for obvious reasons. Didn’t do any good.
Please advise.
Thankks
December 18th, 2013 at 20:45 #14867AlanHi, I just installed the Parabola upgrade and now I have no slider, nor any of the columns. I checked the presentation page settings and they seem to be the same as they were before the update.
January 4th, 2014 at 16:00 #15422ZedCryout Creations mastermindThis topic is now closed as it got to have too many separate questions and issues caused by different reasons under the same roof.
If you’re absolutely sure you configured the slider (images) correctly, in 99% of the cases the slider fails (and you see only the spinning circle) because another extension is breaking WordPress’ jQuery.
In the other 1% of cases the cause is posts/images/browser or an actual theme bug (we hadn’t one of those in a long while).
If the prsentation page is enabled but missing completely, make sure Frontpage displays is set to Your latest posts under Settings > Reading.
If you still have issues with the presentation page or slider, please create your own topic.
