need to link to presentation page for development

I need to have a url for the presentation page to give to my client so they can view changes, and in the meantime (while the site is under development) have a static page that says site under construction (I’m using an index.html page). I don’t quite understand how to show them the presentation page, but not show it to the public just yet. How might I achieve this?
