Since a week or so, the orientation of the featured image (FI) is always landscape. Even if I use a portrait-oriented, or square image as FI. It always puts up a landscape-oriented FI. This does not happen if I set an image that was entered into the media library some weeks ago as FI. But for new images, it does not respect the orientation of the image.
See http://bieraficionado.com/, FI for post “Il baladin di Piozzo”. The FI is 150×150 but it shows landscape.
The FI for post “Unboxing” is also 150×150, but this turns out nicely as square. This FI was put into the media library 3 weeks ago.
Is this is a WordPress problem or a Nirvana theme problem, and how can this be solved? Thanks for your help.
It turns out the default setting for “cut out featured image on exact size” or similar (I have the Dutch translation here) is set to ‘on’ after the latest theme update.
Set this to off, re-submit the FI’s to the media library, set the FI again and it’s solved.
Dear Cryout Creations, please do NOT alter settings when updating the theme, this has been driving me nuts.
