Presentation Page: make column images' width absolute

I’d like to make the content/sidebar width (layout section) for the site to be relative…however when I do, the widths of the images for the column heads stretch or compress when the width of the browser is changed…thus distorting the images. Is there a way to lock the width for these images? the slider image widths are allowed to be set to an absolute width. For now my ‘fix’ is to set the content width to a content/sidebar with to absolute.

BTW…I really like this theme
