Need tags to display in Meta Bar

If Post Tags = True, the tags are shown below the post excerpt. I need them to display in the meta bar. Is it possible to tweak the code to do this?

I have too much stuff at the bottom to add tags there. And my tags will be important later on in the same fashion that author’s name and date are important.
