Desire auto-updated copyright year in custom footer

    I wanted to have a copyright line in the custom footer that would auto-update each January 1.

    I entered,
    Copyright © 2011–<?php echo date(“Y”); ?> Rod Martin, Jr. All World Rights Reserved.

    But after saving, the PHP disappears. PHP not allowed, I take it. Workaround?
