The shortcodes I had been using stopped working as of the Mantra 2.4.0 update this morning.
They now appear as text – [cryout-multi][cryout-column width=”1/2″] – in my site.May 19th, 2015 at 20:39 #31867JamieYes, I have exactly the same issue
May 20th, 2015 at 03:51 #31868AdrianSame issue here. The button to add columns doesn’t seem to be on the page editor anymore. This was one of the best features of the theme, and several of my pages are totally screwed up now. Is there a way to download the previous version until this gets fixed?
May 20th, 2015 at 09:25 #31870Claude LaurentI also have the same problem and my client is wondering what’s going on. I had to go back.
Even creating a thême “daughter” I can not put my columns other than moving back and blocking the updateMay 20th, 2015 at 09:29 #31871AbigailSame problem here — very frustrating because I put in a lot of effort on site development. I would not have used the cryout button shortcodes if there had been any indication that they would not be supported going forward.
I was able to download the version 2.3.4 of the theme with this link:
https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/mantra.2.3.4.zipMay 20th, 2015 at 10:47 #31876Steve MAbigail,
How did you reinstall version 2.3.4 from the zip file?
My site is messed up as well. Need to go back to previous version but don’t know how?
Any help appreciated.May 20th, 2015 at 13:44 #31877Claude LaurentHello,
Simply via FTP, delete the folder “mantra” in the templates folder and replace the zip file unzipped.
It is in this way that from my side I could achieveMay 20th, 2015 at 16:10 #31878Paul BoydThank God for Updraft Plus Backup Just quickly restore old Mantra, Why would they disable the short codes … Makes no sense it is a great feature of Matra, Cryout Creations need to listen to the OutCry of Users about the [cryout-multi][cryout-column width="x/x"] ShortCode NOT WORKING!!!!!!
May 20th, 2015 at 16:33 #31883claude LaurentOups, sorry, replace with a mantra folder back-up
:'(May 20th, 2015 at 17:46 #31895TonySame problem here.
Short term revert back to the earlier version. Long term if they do not add feature back into theme use plug in (WP easy column). I use it with a different theme and it works the same way. It would be nice if they would respond so we know how to proceed.May 20th, 2015 at 23:17 #31898ZedCryout Creations mastermindHi and sorry for being late to announce this.
Shortcodes have long been denied from being included in themes, but we’ve managed to get away with it until now because we’ve had them in the theme since before this rule was implemented (and also did not update Mantra for a couple of months).
Unfortunately, we’ve had to remove the shortcodes for this new update to be accepted (which we wanted to release to fix outstanding issues before the Customizer rule will also become enforced).
However, we’ve moved shortcodes functionality in a separate plugin, which is found here

Also, for those needing column shortcodes, who maybe can’t do a manual install (like me, because I’m on the road, and don’t have my ftp info on the travel machine) – Easy Column works really well, and supports a 1/5 column.
May 21st, 2015 at 08:10 #31906Claude LaurentHello Zed
Thank you for these explanations.
Should we therefore now replace the term “mantra” -multi by “Cryout” -multi?
I have 218 pages on my site this will be a heavy job I think.
A trick to do it quickly?
thank youMay 21st, 2015 at 16:42 #31913ZedCryout Creations mastermindAdrian, this change is noted in the update changelog, but its the changelog itself we were late in publishing.
Claude, the plugin supports both cryout and mantra shortcodes, but you need to enable the mantra ones from its settings (Appearance > Cryout Shortcodes)
However, if you really want to change to cryout, I think this script can do it (I recommend version 2.1 as it’s simpler).

Finally I took all codes page by page into notepas ++ and I did a search / replace
it was pretty fast.
Thank you again for all this work and this wonderful themeJune 10th, 2015 at 08:06 #32111AvaIf I install a different shortcode plugin, will I have to go post by post to make corrections?
July 5th, 2015 at 15:54 #32264ScottThe plugin worked for me but I also got this error:
The plugin generated 190 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.
Should I be concerned about this?
July 5th, 2015 at 20:08 #32266DavidAs shortcodes are not technically supported in the theme now, I simply migrated my columns pages to tables.
