Mantra 1.5.7 and internationalization

The new Mantra version brings a few small design changes. We improved the looks of the sticky posts, the headers, the next and previous post links, the page numbers, the comments avatars and a few other minor things. The tag-could widget bug has been fixed as well.

We also fully optimized the theme’s internationalization and created the .pot, .po and .mo files that will help you translate the theme vith ease. Okay, we admit. The translations don’t really work yet, mostly because we don’t use a localized environment and testing features that we don’t use can sometimes be quite troublesome. But hopefully the internationalization will be up and about in the next release 🙂

Mantra is a clean, highly configurable and totally free WordPress theme. For more info check out the theme's page.

  1. Hello, me again. I use the antivirus plugin, and your updated theme set off the antivirus warning in the functions.php and mantra-admin-functions.php. In the first file, it had a problem with this on line 123:

    require_once(dirname(__FILE__) . “/mantra-admin-functions.php”);

In the second file, it seemed to have a problem with your paypal encryption code on line 1109.

    Just FYI.

  2. Hello! I just updated the Mantra theme to 1.6.3 and now the settings I make in the “Graphics Settings” screen aren’t working, even if they show they’ve been correctly set in the admin. This happened in Opera and IE. Please help.

  3. I am using Mantra for a new web site. But, the result is wider than the normal view and requires people to scroll from right to left to see the full page – and I do not like it.
I have tried changing the width of the page in the style file from 1100px to something smaller, but nothing has changed. I have also tried to change the left point of the web site title, agan without any results – what should I do?

  4. If you want, i have found that in mantra-admin-function.php, in the apperence settings, the is a ” on the first “”, in IE this is causes a problem. if you delete “” and “” you may now use the Save Settings button in the Mantra Settings page

        1. Thanks a lot for your info. We have fixed that bug a while back and that was indeed the problem. But the new version of Mantra has been on the review queue at WordPressfor over 6 weeks now and we’re still waiting for the new version to be approved and released to the public.

  5. I love mantra! Thank you so much for it. I’m one of those who has post information settings not working. I tested each plugin and at least one, the Nivoslider WP plugin, causes the conflict. Can you tell me how to remove the date and author manually because I can’t do without Nivoslider now?

  6. I recently upgraded to 1.5.7 and now my “Blog” page doesn’t show the images in the posts. If I click the link for the post, the images show up there, but no images on main Blog page. A few other issues popped up, but I got them solved, this is the only issue I’ve got left.

  7. Hi,

I want to change the category page to only display the titles of the posts in each category and not the whole post as it makes the page huge!!

I located the category.php and removed the following line:

    <?php the_content(); ?>

But it still displays the whole of the post in each category. Can you advise please?

  8. After upgrading to the latest version and also updating wordpress, the sidebar is now located at the bottom of the website. http://www.gs-diving.com
Do you have any suggestions as to how I make it fit next to the text, like a normal column should do?
I have increased the total width to 1100 (both in functions.php and header.php). Otherwise the tabs across the top don’t view properly (esp ipad/iphone)
I am unable to move the slider in IE8, Firefox (latest version) nor Chrome (latest version).
The slider shows a sidebar with 0px, which I guess is why the sidebar has defaulted under the text. My content is 760px. Thanks in advance.

    1. I see you’ve managed to fix the sidebar.
I’m guessing it was because you were unable to move the slider and the content/sidebar sizes did not get saved.
This is the first time we get a report that the slider does not work in Firefox… are you using any particularly complex extensions (security / scripts / javascript related)?

    1. Nope, and it probably won’t be for a while now. It’s not us… it’s WordPress that is taking painfully long to review themes, thus making it a lot harder for us to add new content for the theme.

  9. I´d like to use the social media buttons in the header and i´ve insert my facebook link in the mantra settings, but effective the link doesn´t work. The link is now “www.myurl.com/www.myfacebooklink.com”, but i´ve only written “www.myfacebooklink.com”.

    Could you please help me?

      1. Maybe you could make this clearer in the settings instead of just putting “Insert your facebook address” as I was having the same problem (fixed now). I actually emailed you about it but haven’t heard back, although I understand that this may be because of the time of year I hope you are having a much deserved break.

  10. Hi,

I have been using Mantra theme for some time now and feel great about it.
However there is one thing that I have not got to work is tag cloud (with varying sizes, as in your website).

I am not using any custom tag-cloud plugin. Could you please shed some light on this.

    Thanks,
    Sarang

  11. Hi, the mantra platform is excellent, however I have just done an update and it has created a problem. The side bar (right) now is displaying below my text – I don’t know why and can’t work out how to change it. It was fine before the update.
Also the slider to adjust the page width doesn’t work.
    Please help

  12. I have tried chaning my browser (changed for IE to google chrome) and I still cannot make any changes in the mantra settings? I am not able to change colors, texts. etc. Am I missing something?

    1. Please be a bit more specific about the troubles you’re encountering.
      1. Does the option tab slide open when you click on the Text Settings/Color Settings/Layout Settings titles?
      2. Are you able to edit the fields (colors / texts)?
      3. Are you then able to click the Save button?
      4. Does the page reload and display the “Settings saved successfully” message?

  13. I am trying to translate mantra theme to but I don’t get it to work properly, it seems that none of my .po-files are used? (placed under themes/mantra/languages).
Is this a known problem and can you give me a hint in the right direction to solve this problem.

  14. so i updated today from 1.0 something to 1.5.7 — and it totally messed up my site:( what’s going on?

i’ll activate the Mantra again so you can take a peek… but the posts aren’t showing at all, just titles and a little excerpt, on the MAIN PAGE. 🙁

          1. Thank you. We know of that issue. All you have to do after installing the theme is saving the settings in you Mantra settings page. Try to use Firefox as a browser when you do that. This issue has been fixed in the next version but it’s still awaiting moderation at WordPress.

  15. Why did the custom header image get reduced to such a small size? Is there any way to increase it back to the old standard of 900×200? And, if I update my other sites, will it mess up the 900×200 headers that are already in place?

          1. This is no longer under our control. The WordPress dudes now have the power of life or death over the next version. When it will be approved, it will be appear as an available update.

  16. Hello,
First of all I love the Mantra template, it looks great. When I proudly showed my website to my colleague we noticed that the layout of the Wales-activities page is all wrong. At my work IE7 is used and on the Wales-activity page tables (made by plugin TinyMCE Advanced) are displayed on the right side of the page throughout the widget-area. Everything is fine at home, I use IE9 or Mozilla, but using IE7 it’s not acceptable and a lot of Dutch companies are using IE7. So my question is: is this due to the template or maybe the plugin I used? Can I do something about this myself? Thanks for your help.

    1. It looks even worse on IE6…
The problem is that some choose to use old, poorly done, ridiculously incompatible browsers, while they can update to newer version at no cost (either updating to IE8/9 or switching to an open source browser).
From a developer’s point of view, making websites that otherwise look perfect on normal browsers to look acceptable on IE older than 8 requires a lot of tricks and hacks, and working with no included style debugging tools whatsoever. That’s why most developers are long ignoring IE6 (which was a real pain in the… behind) and IE7 is very far on that path as well.
Everybody switched away from IE6 when Google decided to no longer support it on Youtube.
I’m guessing that when most websites viewed on company/school/faculty computers will no longer be viewable on IE7, the admins that should have updated the browsers will eventually have received enough complaints to do so…

I did not mean this reply as a backslash at you, it’s more of a bark out to those admins out there whose jobs include updating browsers in their workplace network and fail or ignore to do it. You’re making the developer’s work a living hell!

Anyway… the problem you’re seeing there on IE7 is probably fixable with some CSS hacks… but without any CSS debugging tools included in IE7 and us not using that particular plugin, there’s little we can do to help you.
Try adding clear: both; for #content table in the theme’s style.css, but I’m just guessing here. Any fix for IE is done by guessing.
