The new and improved version of the Mantra Theme has been submitted to WordPress. Apart from giving the user a new set of shiny options to play with, we also improved the looks and friendliness of the admin section. We just hope we didn’t cross any boundaries WordPress can’t handle and the new version won’t be rejected.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Mantra is a clean, highly configurable and totally free WordPress theme. For more info check out the theme's page.
The creative mind of Cryout Creations. In charge of all you see and a lot more, including being the lead (bug) designer.
Has all the great ideas but never enough coffee to make them all happen.
Not thrilled with the limitations on the “general font” size. I have quite a few readers who appreciated the larger font I could get with this template in the past. I’m not savvy enough with CSS to edit it on my own either.
What limitations are you talking about? The “general font size” options are the same as they were in previous versions… from 12px to 18px.
The update just broke much of my site. All that shows up are the titles now, no images or pictures on the front page, no sidebar either. What the hell?
This is a major update and many variables have changed.
Just go to the admin section> Appearance > Mantra Settings and hit Save Changes ( you don’t have to change anything yet)
You’ll see most things will come back to normal.
Also if you want to keep the colors you had be sure to add a # in front of the numbers in Color Options.
Nope, didn’t fix a thing, still broken. Switching to another theme for the time being.
Sigh, been playing with it for an hour and it’s still broken. Please fix it.
What exactly did you do? how have you been playing with it? Did you find the Mantra Settings?
The only thing I changed to the theme was adding some code for a jquery-based slider, nothing more. Upon updating the theme, all that was visible was the article titles, no content, to images, no sidebars. Clicking the “save changes” button did nothing, as did deleting and reinstalling the theme. If you like, I can take a screenshot of what it looks like and send it to you.
Okay, even the preview of the theme is busted. Check it out:
Brian Rubin, clicking Save Changes in the Mantra Settings solved the issues for all our users. Please try it again.
Hey, this is weird, I uninstalled and reinstalled it again, and tried clicking on the “Save Changes” button in my usual browser, Opera, yet nothing happening. Switching to Chrome, however, did the trick, which is weird because it didn’t work in Chrome earlier. The theme is working again, and all is right with the world. Thanks for your help, and I love your theme! 🙂
Hey!
I just updated this really nice theme BUT
Now it switcched back the side the sidemenu shows (left) so text are all over the hardcoded sidebar.
To make it eeven better, somthing is very off.. I can choose to set the menu to the right instead, but it wont allow me to save the setting damnit…
Please dont tell me ive wasted all these hours lol.
Did you update to v 1.5.3?
If so go to admin section > Appearance > Mantra Settings and Save Changes.
What a luck day for me! I just went to wordPress hoping I wouldn’t need to spend too much time to find a right theme… The first one I installed was mantra, and loved everything about it. I’m now waiting for 1.5 version to be released.
One question (or maybe request) though, I just bought a new font called “Vimala”. It’s not a normal traditional font but a super inspiring-yet-never-expire font. Is it possiblem to customize the header font to this new one somehow? Help please.
Sorry for the late reply, but this question is a bit tricky.
Using non-standard fonts in any part of a website requires you to include them as website resources. The problematic part is not all browsers accept non-standard fonts (meaning not included in the operating system), and not all browsers accept the same non-standard fonts format.
One way to mitigate this is to use a text/image conversion script, such as Cufon. What it does it’s that it converts all the text you want to use a specific font to images by using that particular font. Any browsers that do not run the script will display the normal text instead.
A Cufon for WordPress plugin does exist, and it’s available at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-cufon/. And using it with your font on the #site-title and #site-description ids will achieve what you wish.
Thanks for the great theme, love the look and all the customizable features.
Not sure if these are in the newly submitted theme but the two things that are making it imposable for me to work with this theme for the time being are:
1) The header image is forced to be cropped at 1100 but the page width is 900 so it always looks off and defeats the purpose of the easy to use header…
2) The default spacing means the “search” box gets cut off and pushed to a second line oddly if viewed on an ipad.
Thanks for all the hard work.
Or to be more accurate, as I look at it closer, the header seems to just be slightly off… it lists to the left… rather than not being the right size exactly.
Yes, there is an extra margin in the header. That has been fixed in version 1.5. As for the search button problem.. we’re working on it .. although it doesn’t happen on normal browsers.
