Mantra 1.7.2 is full of shhh… it’s a secret

Yap. The new version 1.7.2 is here. Don’t let the .2 at the end fool you, it’s the first in the 1.7 series. And it brings quite a lot to the table.

The greatest and by far the shiniest of all its glitters is the new third column, or second sidebar if you wish, that you can arrange anywhere you want. But as not everything that glitters is gold, there’s a slight problem with it. Go figure, ei? If you just installed the Mantra theme for the first time you’re perfectly fine. But if you upgraded from an older version a strange layout problem may arise. It’s nothing much. Just go to the theme options page and click Save Changes. Problem solved.

Another addition are the new Social Media icons. There are now 11 to choose from and you can add any 4 of them on the live site. Go check them out in the Mantra Settings.

There’s also the long awaited and requested custom CSS field where you can finally add your custom styles and not worry about them when upgrading the theme. Unless we screw something the wrong way again 😉 But nah… that’s not gonna happen.

And then there’s the new Reset to Defaults button in the settings page. We’ll need a lot more than this post to explain what that does. Oh and careful… there’s no pop-up asking you if you’re sure you want to reset your settings to default. Once you click it… there’s no turning back.

We also probably added a few more bugs since this is a pretty big release so we’re pretty sure we’ll be hearing from you.

1.7.3 (that adds more fonts and areas to use them in) is already submitted to WordPress and 1.7.4 (the one that fixes the layout issues and adds 2 more widget areas) is almost done in case you were wondering.

Mantra is a clean, highly configurable and totally free WordPress theme. For more info check out the theme's page.

  1. …oh, and yes, I have double-checked all comments settings but have not messed in the code files on my server. According to solutions in the WP forum, my “single.php” file looks like it correctly calls the comments template:

  2. I cannot get the Comments form to show on posts, no matter what settings are set to in Discussion as “comments on”, and “allow user comments”, etc.
The comments form DOES appear on Pages, but not Posts. Strange…

I have tried reverting to a fresh install, and nothing works.
Very frustrating as this essentially broke my blog just as I launched it on Social Media sites.

No fixes as suggested in either Mantra nor WPress forums have revealed a solution. I do not want to lead Mantra as my mantra, but I gotta fix this issue mui pronto.

    1. Have you ever gotten it figured out? If my pages are set to default, it shows the comment box, but won’t show my posts. If its not set to default, it shows my posts, but no comment box. Been trying to figure this out for days now.

  3. Hello, after updating the theme (version was older than 1.63) the images aren’t shown any more which are produced by plugins nextgen gallery and dynamic widgets.
What can I do about this? All the galleries are still present in the widgets.
    Thanks for your help!

      1. I see your website appears fine now.
As for the missing social icon, we made a hiccup there. Please browse to the wp-content/themes/mantra/images/socials folder and rename “linkedIn.png” to “LinkedIn.png” (notice the caps).

  4. I downloaded the new Mantra 1.7.2 and all my pages start half way down the page . Is anyone else getting a large blank area at the start of all their pages? I tried to see if it was something in the page edit area but everything seems fine. It’s such a great theme does anyone know how to fix this?

  5. Sometimes the content of archive pages are shown after a large gap. Second prob is I lost the background graphics of heading from the footer widgets just after updating to latest version.

  6. I have problem viewing image when click on the image on my site using version after 1.6.3. . Also after install latest version 1.7.2 when switch back to 1.6.3, the control panel doesn’t work. Such a good theme, just view image function not working properly!
    Please help me.
