Category/archive descriptions are displayed in the same container with the category/archive title and both get removed when the titles are hidden via the theme’s options.

You can install and activate the child theme the same way you would any WordPress theme.

If you don’t have a copy of the child theme downloaded, open a ticket on this.

in reply to: Blurry featured images #108784
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

Newly uploaded and set featured images get cropped according to the theme’s current configuration.
Existing images are displayed at their closest existing crop or full size (since they do not have the specific size crops). Unless the source images are already blurry, just cropping them to size will not make them more blurry. However, large images shrunk to fit in smaller size might appear crispier than their 100% zoomed counterparts.

You can configure the theme to disable cropping and display featured images in full all the time (with the downside of using the larger image files).

I see the header image is changed now on the site.
If you’re having problems with the site preview in the customize screen not updating after making configuration changes, that can be due to multiple causes. I suggest checking of and disabling any form of caching (if you’re using one), temporarily disable active plugins (in case one of them is interfering with the customizer) and/or try the same process with a different browser (to check if it’s perhaps related to browser caching).

in reply to: Color schemes for roseta plus #108771
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

Some of our themes include multiple (as we call them) preset schemes, which can customize more than just the colors (they also change fonts, text sizes, example images and even appearance and layout specifics).

Roseta has one such scheme beside the default, which is also available for the free edition of the theme as a separate child theme named Codex. You can preview its general appearance and look on WordPress.org: https://wordpress.org/themes/codex/

The migration functionality handles the options transition from the free edition of the theme to the Plus when the free edition has already been used (and configured) on the (same) site.

in reply to: Change logo while scrolling down the page #108769
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

Generally images cannot change colors – the SVG format has some limited capabilities, but for security reasons it is not currently officially supported by WordPress (although there are plugins that force this support).

Additionally, neither the theme nor WordPress provide functionality to define multiple logo images (and then perhaps alternate between them based on specific events).

The logo image is displayed both over the static banner image and the menu bar on scroll. For best results it would need to have a color scheme that works on both these backgrounds. All three elements: the logo image, the static banner image and the header menu background color are configurable and need to be set to values that work together.

in reply to: Where do I put the license key? #108768
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

The license key can be entered in the Plus theme’s management page, under Appearance > Esotera Plus Theme.
Ensure that you have Esotera Plus theme installed and active – the two editions are separate themes and the free edition cannot be converted to the Plus directly.

in reply to: Something Broke After Regenerating Thumbnails #108766
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

If the current site is the backed-up working copy, there are still some critical markup errors that can break the layout and cause unexpected rendering problems: https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=https%3A%2F%2Fspiritaligned.org%2F

I cannot say if or why these would aggravate after a thumbnails regeneration, though.

Any text displayed on the site that doesn’t come from administrable content (content, menus, widgets, so on) is either part of the theme or WordPress and can be customized using translations:

    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

The blocks appearance and layout is controlled by WordPress’ built-in blocks styling.
I notice on the about page that Liz’s block is properly displayed on mobile (being set to vertically align) while all the others have their images enlarged full width (because they’re set to vertically stack on mobile).
You might want to look into adjusting the appearance options.

Any theme styling can be overridden with custom CSS without editing any files if this CSS is applied after the theme’s own styles (which happens by default with WordPress’ Additional CSS field) or irrespective of order if the custom CSS is more specific.

in reply to: Why does Tempera require a “ticket plugin”? #108748
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

Tempera does not require any plugins. The only plugin it recommends (notice the difference in language) is our own Serious Settings plugin.

You either have some custom code / code customizations there, or another extension is using TGM-PA and somehow overlaps the theme’s plugins list.

in reply to: Customize: Loading #108744
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

The customize screen is a core WordPress feature. When it fails to work properly, it’s often due to various plugins causing errors in functionality. Try to temporarily disable any active plugins you have on the site and recheck if the customize screen loads correctly.

in reply to: How to show Headermedia on landing page only #108064
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

The header is a site-wide feature and cannot be selectively displayed just through the included options and functionality. You could hide it on the non-home pages with some custom CSS, though:

    body:not(.home) #masthead #header-image-main-inside {
        height: 0;
    }

Keep in mind that the header image also holds the header titles and header widget area and will vanish with it.

That depends on what’s applying the lazy loading functionality. If it has exclusion options, you should be able to use the slider’s id/classnames to this exclusion.

in reply to: Responsive on mobile has stopped working #107876
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

This behaviour is most likely related to the optimization/minification functionality that’s currently used on the site.
The theme requires its styling to be applied in a particular order for everything to appear correctly. When this order is broken (some plugins do this when merging styles into one) then odd behaviour like the one you’re seeing can occur.

I suggest trying to exclude the theme’s style from this minifying/optimization (if the plugin supports that) or disabling CSS minification altogether (this may not be an optimal solution, depending on how many separate style resources your site is using).

in reply to: Page Jumping when Slide #107873
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

It’s definitely related to the lazy loading because the images are not there when the slides cycle (the images are initially hidden for the animation effect) and then pop into existence once the effect is complete, the hiding styling is removed and the browser hurries to load them.

If you’re comparing it to Safari, on Safari we disable the special positioning and turn it into a plain background image because Safari has issues rendering images that are both cover-sized and fixed.

in reply to: rename “portfolio” slug #107729
    Zed
    Cryout Creations mastermind

The post type slug is controlled by the Jetpack plugin, not the theme, and is not configurable through options.
Since slugs are at the foundation of the post type registration, you’d most likely need to completely override the CPT’s registration.
