No matter what I do, I cannot get the theme to accept a new header image – so I only have what was preloaded as an option. Am I missing something? I have tried on a windows machine with firefox or chrome, and now on a linux machine with firefox and chrome.

In what way is the header image selector not functioning? At what step does it not work?

Did you check if the header image functionality is working with a different theme that supports header images?
