Having used Mantra since first using WP I am delighted with it. Most recently I installed bbpress to the site to fairly obviously allow my users to create chat amongst themselves.
But the text area where you type your comments is only 1 character high! If I activate say the Twenty Twelve theme it is similar in size to this box, therefore my assumption is the conflict is with mantra, Has anyone else got his problem?

We’re a bit behind on “compatibility-zing” Mantra with bbPress.
We’ll try to do it in one of the upcoming updates.
