The Nirvana theme has a setting to show random posts on the presentation page. Am I correct that in newer themes like Kahuna (Septera, Fluida) there is no random post option for the landing page?

Nirvana (and the other older themes) are capable of displaying random posts in their presentation page slider and columns areas.

The newer themes can display posts in the new landing page featured boxes sections, but the posts are sorted based on their publication date (latest first). This order can be customized by filtering the theme’s custom queries handling these sections.

I have the same problem. I want also random posts on the landing page. But I really don’t know how to do “filtering the theme’s custom queries”. I know a little bit php, but advanced programming is not my thing.
Is it difficult programming Fluida with an option “show posts random” on the landing page?
