I’m loving the theme, but I just ran into a glitch and I REALLY don’t want to move to another theme if I don’t have to. The organization the site is for wants the sidebar items on the homepage. I had started with a presentation page, but I switched to a “regular” page at that request from the organization. I used the Promotion Slider plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/promotion-slider/) because I still wanted the slider like is on your presentation page. However, this plugin adds a third category of content: Promotions. (Like posts or pages, but a whole other animal). The plugin has an option for each promotion (image) to link to something other than the promotion (in my case, I’m trying to link to other pages on the site) or to nothing at all. None of these selections work, it will only link back to the promotions. Per the response on the plugin’s page, I figured out it was a problem with the Mantra theme.
Any ideas of what in the theme might conflict with something like this?
OR can I add my right sidebar to a presentation page?
OR can I add the Mantra slider to a different page?
(Trust me, I understand your job isn’t to debug other plugins, but I’m just trying everything I can at this point! Thanks so much!)

Does the plugin work correctly with a default Twenty-something theme?

The Promotion Slider plugin is currently set to go to actual pages. For example, the show sponsorship image is supposed to go to http://wisconsinwalkinghorse.org/wordpress/wordpress/show/show-sponsorship/, but it goes to the promo posts instead. I have installed the “Improved Include Page” plugin to temporarily get the links to point to the correct content, even if the wrong URL. It’s still not an ideal workaround.
Yes, the plugin works if I revert to a default theme. I am kind of assuming there’s a conflict with the Mantra slider vs. the plugin slider, but can’t be certain.
I’m working on a couple other workarounds. If I find something, I’ll let you know! Thank you so much for any guidance you can provide.
March 19th, 2013 at 04:17 #4384KatieI found an alternate plugin that is working. So never mind! Thanks though!
