I’ve found the part of the CSS which I think should allow me to pad each item in an ordered list, but it doesn’t work. I’ve looked through the entire CSS and can’t find any other entries which would do the job. So how do I do it?

Lists (as markup) are used in many places in the general structure of the theme and in content sections outputted by WordPress.

Which specific lists are you trying to adjusting padding on? Just ones inside content?
