Is there any way to change the settings on the CTA buttons in the landing page slider so that when people click on them, the links open in new tabs rather than taking users away from your site within the same tab?

Those buttons are intended to be used to link to content on the same site, so they don’t open in new tabs/windows. You could add this by either editing the function handling them or using JS to alter their behaviour.
