How easy is it to move from Parabola to, for example, Anima? Obviously I’d want to keep disruption to a minimum. It seems like a terrifying prospect.

Due to this the options are mostly different between the two themes and direct settings migration is not possible.

It would just require the front page and styling (plus widgets?) to be remade? Is there a way of duplicating the content and making a parallel offline Anima-based site, getting it into shape and then swapping over to make it live?

The themes’ front page (named landing page in Anima) has an entirely different method of configuration, so this would need to be manually re-configured.
Widgets normally hang around when switching themes but I’m not sure if they are handled by the import/export procedure.
