On the homepage I have the slider and the blog articles with Magazine Layout that had 2 columns with excertps and featured images, now there is only one column.

How can I get the 2 column layout back?

The presentation page has a separate option concerning the number of columns. Previously the magazine layout option used to override this option, but this has been corrected in the last updates.

Check what number of columns the presentation page posts are set in theme options (it’s in the Presentation Page section).
