Thank you on the last problem, I actually did find it.. I am somewhat of a newbi at this..

went to ‘appearance’- customize, header.. will not give me the original customize menu.
this is essentially what copied:

Save & Publish Cancel
You are customizing
Politics Recycled
Help
Widgets Press return or enter to open this panel
Active theme
Fluida Change

where’d it go? I have plugins, but…. just went down the list.. Header and Background.. do not work. Customize does not work. ??

If the panels are there but you cannot open them, you may have a JS issue in your WordPress dashboard. Try disabling plugins to figure out if any of them is causing this.
