I’m not sure why, but my excerpts suddenly include the line ‘Originally posted 2018-05-30 08:25:23.’

I can’t figure out how to remove it as it doesn’t appear when I edit the post.

Can you please let me know what’s happened and how I can turn this off?

That text is most likely added by a plugin. Try to temporarily disable all your active plugins and check if it goes away, then re-enable them one by one to see when it returns.
