you can see them /wp-content/uploads/2013/10 (my uploads Are filed with year/month folders) wacky sizes indeed.I think it reads the image dimensions from the file info and then multiplies by some factor like .8 or something. WordPress does this automatically when you upload an image, so if you change image size when you select an image to use the file already exists. When you select an image to use from media images and edit it there is a check box for size and then a button that says use this image.
In Dashboard–>Settings –> Media you set the image sizes.
example Thumbnail 150×150
Medium 300×300
Large 600×600
When you upload image it needs to be the size you set, if not when it is cropped or resized it may not be perfect.
I play it safe.. for each media image I create 3 images with exact dimensions.
imagethumbnail150x150.jpg
imagemedium300x300.jpg
imagelarge600x600.jpgFor some images you can hover over the question mark ?, and it may have the recommended image size ( like slider and column images)
Default content width is 1050, so slider image default size is 1050 x 350
Column images arre 308×308
You can always change the image sizes but you must make sure all settings regarding image sizes are equal to the actual image dimensions.developer @ uquitsmoking.info
October 18th, 2013 at 14:52 #13045StelleDiPolvereEvery time i upload a photo when Parbaola theme is activated, i will find a total of 8 images in the folder. ( instead of 3 for basic wordpress theme)
Can you add some option to avoid this problem?
Server hosting doesn’t like to have 80000 file instead of 30000 or 40000
For each image uploaded in the websitethe original image
2 image cause the header
1050×87
1050×350
2 image for thumbnail
150×150
150×112
1 image for featured image
200×150
2 other images
1024×768
300×225October 24th, 2013 at 20:22 #13182ZedCryout Creations mastermindWe’ll look into this and see if we can limit / reduce the amount of cropped/resized images created.
