I would like to keep only the highlights of the posts displayed on the post page. The visitor can click the link to enter the full post.

How can I do that?

Use excerpts (enable them in theme settings). You can manually define your excerpts (while creating/editing the posts) or leave WordPress automatically create them for you (by extracting the first X words/letters from the posts).
