Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to blogging and am no good when it comes to coding. I would like to place a small google ad box in the right sidebar. Everyhting I have read asks that you not mess with the main css but instead us the custom css in the Parabola setting but when I put the codein there it doesnt do anything. i would appreciate any help!

Ads are usually HTML/JS code. That doesn’t belong in the CSS field or files.

To include content in your sidebar, use the Text widget (it also supports HTML/JS).
