Hi guys,
Thanks for a great theme (Tempera).
Yesterday I updated the theme to 1.5.0. Checking my site right after the update, all my text shrink and lost as well all height spacing. I tried readjusting it on Tempera settings. I can change font but changing the font size and line height does not change a thing on my page. All other functions on Tempera settings works well.
I tried to solve it in few ways:
Disabling all plugins (still same issue)
Changing a theme (issues do not exist on other themes)
Uninstalled Tempera theme and reinstalled 1.5.0, without plugins or child theme active(still same issue)
Reset Tempera settings (still same issue)
I reset my backup and back to previous version of Tempera. Everything works well again but I would like my theme to be updated.
Any idea what can be the problem?
Currently, I am back on version 1.4.9

March 31st, 2017 at 19:58 #43604I’m experiencing the same issue in multiple browsers. *sad face*
I’ve left the update in place, but the spacing and font size is affected throughout the site, as is the sizing of the featured images on the presentation page. (The extra text fields on the presentation page are where the changes are most easily observable.)

April 1st, 2017 at 14:46 #43619Hello,
I’m experiencing a very similar issue. After updating to version 1.5.0, the text’s height and spacing changed, it became smaller. I tried to fix this by changing the values in Tempera settings -> Text setting but nothing happened.
I temporarily solved this by adding some css but I still do not understand why the text settings related to line height and general fonts seem not to be working for me.
PS: I’ve got a child-theme – created manually, not with some plugin. It has always worked fine up till now, can something having to to with it?
Thanks in advance for your help,
kind regards.

April 2nd, 2017 at 21:14 #43639ZedCryout Creations mastermindWe’ve changed how the line height option works in the 1.5.0 update but didn’t correctly handle backwards compatibility – this caused it to reset at the smallest value upon the next settings save.
We corrected this problem in 1.5.1 (already available) so the line height will work correctly over the update (you’ll need to re-set the option to the desired value or the default 1.7em if you’ve entered and saved theme settings while running 1.5.0).
Version 1.5 also changes all font size from fixed (pixel-based) values to relative (em units). This can cause slight variations in font sizes throughout the site (under 1px), but nothing that would really be noticeable.
Are you observing any major changes to font sizes with versions 1.5.0/1.5.1 or was the line height the only obvious problem? If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.

Same problem:
1. Line height does not respond to any adjustments in Tempera settings.
2. Font size does not respond to adjustments.
3. There is no margine anymore between the main page and widget area.I am back on 1.4.9 as my website is almost unreadable on 1.5.1

April 3rd, 2017 at 14:24 #43688Hi,
It’s the same for me. I updated the theme to 1.5.1 and I deleted the css I had added to solve the issues. The text on my website still had the same problems. I then tried to change both the fonts’ size and height going to Tempera settings -> Text setting but unfortunately nothing changed. I have added the css again to temporarily solve the problem.

April 6th, 2017 at 06:59 #43746AGirlHasNoNamePower UserHi, how are you going with this one Zed? It’s still not fixed (I have version 1.5.1 installed on my site). It’s been a few days now and not looking good!

April 6th, 2017 at 10:07 #43748Hi, in addition to the problems related to fonts, this morning I noticed another thing I didn’t notice before. I don’t know if this is happening to someone else here. Before updating to version 1.5.0 – and then 1.5.1 – when I moved the mouse over social icons a hover appeared, now it doesn’t appear anymore. Any idea?

I haven’t fiddled with my theme settings since November 2016…

April 7th, 2017 at 12:46 #43800ZedCryout Creations mastermindThe only font sizes that we messed with and changed (slightly) are the headings sizes which are now relative to the body font size. This will not affect content text in any way, just titles. Also, the change will at most vary title sizes with 1-2 pixels (if you’re still using the theme’s default font sizes for general and headings).
The option that did cause the hiccup was the line height option (which resets to the lowest available value on a settings save in 1.5.0). This is fixed in 1.5.1, but if you’re seeing reduced line height on your site you’ll need to enter theme settings and adjust it to the previously used value (if you remember it) or the default 1.7em.
If the site behaves wonky after the update and you are using a performance/speed/caching plugin, make sure you clear the cache (otherwise you’ll see a mix of current and obsolete styling which can create a lot of weirdness).
It would be a good idea to also clear the browser’s cache. If you like our creations, help us share by rating them on WordPress.org.

Thanks for your responses and updates.
Working with Tempera for 4 years now, I am very much aware of adjusting Tempera settings, clearing cache and so on.
I have been updating Tempera theme for 4 years now without any issues.
Other people on this thread are experiencing the same problem for many days so cache has nothing to do with their problem.
I am willing to give my access to WordPress so you guys can have a look at my installation. There might be a problem for myself and others with the new update. Not being able to update the theme will eventually force us to change theme, which also means a total re-design of our websites.
If there is any way that you guys can have a look yourself to determine the sorce of the problem it will be a great help at least for few of us on this thread. If there is a paid service that can do that, I will be more than happy to pay for that service.

April 11th, 2017 at 17:04 #43881Hi to everyone who is still experiencing this issue.
For my site it is solved thanks to the amazing support team of WPEngine.
This hosting company is worth every $$ that they charge and much more!!WPEngine uses MaxCDN which is a great and reliable service.
I noticed that disabling CDN service solve the issue.
Enabling CDN service triggered many js and css errors on my page according to WPEngine tests.
WPEngine added some sort of a post script to my CDN which solved the issue.
Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what was that script but,
If you are using a CDN and experiencing the same issue that is what you want to look at.
BTW, finally I can say that,
The new update of Tempera is a great face lift and I really like all the changes in the theme.
It is worth the hassle of troubleshooting the issue!!Website: www.divinginzanzibar.com

The only things that did get changed appearance-wise are headings sizes and the problematic line-height. However these would at most affect text appearance, not cause layout or serious appearance problems.
We did however rearrange and move styling around, something that can cause serious layout issues when it gets combined with incorrect or incomplete caching (site ends up using some new styles and some older cached ones). This is solvable only by clearing and regenerating the cache (CDN services are a form of caching). Browsers employ their own level of caching.
Checking some of the sites URLs you included with your replies, I notice nothing obviously wrong or out of place on any of them.

Text is much too small in the body of posts/pages, but in Dashboard>Tempera Settings, font sizes have not changed (and are still in px). Obviously, from reading this thread, I am not alone in having this problem. How do I fix it? Our site is practically unreadable.

Please check the available documentation and search the forums before starting a topic.May 15th, 2017 at 16:59 #45048I had some of the same issues when I updated to 1.5.2 from 1.4.3
Unfortunately, I had to restore a recent site backup after making the change because there was no simple way to fix the problem.
Here’s a rundown of the issues I experienced:
1) font sizes were reduced across the board. This is no big deal to reset in the theme settings, but it would have been nice to know this was coming before seeing it happen. I did not recall the font sizes I was using off the top of my head.
2) seems like certain font weights had somehow changed – I am using open sans light for headings and the way it displays currently in (1.4.3) is a nice weight for a heading but in 1.5+ it was super thin.
3) the MOST detrimental issue – after updating to 1.5+ The line height and/or spacing for my headings was messed up. I have a manually inserted break in a at least one of my headings (the important one on the presentation page) and in 1.4.3 the default line height / spacing is natural looking, but in 1.5+ the line height / spacing appears to default to the same as the smaller paragraph type causing my heading text first and second lines to overlap.
I wish I could update again and leave the issue there for support to observe, but I can’t just leave the website looking like that while I wait for a reply…
As far as caches, to my knowledge, I don’t think our site uses CDN and I’m not sure what cache I may need to clear other than my browser…
Any help would be appreciated!!!
Thanks,
-Tim
