I have a presentation page set up with image slider at the top and posts below, each post shows an excerpt with a featured image thumbnail that is the same image that appears in the slider. To make them fit the slider, each image is in 16×9 aspect ratio. But where the same image appears as a featured image in a post excerpt just below, it seems to be displaying at more like a 4×3 ratio, so it’s stretched vertically. I’ve played around with the settings under the featured image tab, including trying different thumbnail sizes and ‘cropped’ or ‘not cropped’ but nothign makes any difference. How do I get my featured image thumbnails to display at the correct aspect ratio?

Try using a thumbnail regeneration plugin to make sure your images have a slider-specific image variation (to fit in the slider).

I don’t need the slider to have images that are a different size/format from the featured images in the blog posts. 16×9 aspect ratio is fine for both. The problem is that the blog posts are displaying the 16×9 images as 4×3 and stretching them to fit. How do I get them to display correctly?
