Hi. I would like to have options for both featured image and featured header image for my pages.

I am aware that Tempera can use a page’s featured image as a header image, but then the image should have header proportions which wouldn’t look good as a thumbnail next to a page excerpt.

I am fairly new to WordPress and my PHP knowledge is shallow, but I think I would be able to code this functionality (as a child theme – or plugin?) if someone would kindly describe to me the necessary steps involved – which functions do I need to call, modify or write from scratch, which files do/should they reside in, and so on.
