Hi,

I would like to replace the Extras section with a single column news display area. These will be posts that will be used to keep a running list of latest news for powerlifting events.
I am new to WordPress but not PHP development. I feel I can build what’s needed or modify the existing code but I want to do it the least invasive and correct way.
I don’t need the text areas but would like to put a variable number of posts of a particular category in list form.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
