Hi there!

I have a question about different layouts. Your well documented FAQ says:

when creating/editing a page select the desired page template from the page templates list on the right to make that particular page look differently than the general layout.

My problem is, that I have no page templates list on the right when I´m creating a post (not a page). I only can change there the “post format”. Is it possible to have a posting without sidebar? Or must it be a page instead of a posting?

Posts don’t have templates. If you see Post Formats that means you are creating/editing Posts.
Navigate to Pages to create/edit Pages instead.
