I used to insert 2009-<?php echo date(“Y”); ?> into the footer so that it always shows the correst year. Options of the theme, however, do not recognize php.
What should I do?

Unless you want to modify theme files you’ll need to look for a plugin that lets you enter PHP code via shortcodes.
