On Mantra, I can get the posts to show up, sort of, on the slider. They only show the title and a loading wheel. On Tempera, they don’t show at all.
This is just a sample blog I’m using to learn about the theme before I move it to a real blog, so not much is modified on it yet. I’d like to get the slider to work before I bother putting much effort into customizing everything else.

Are you resizing your images to match the size of the slider as shown in the Presentation page settings? i.e. something like 1150px x 400px and then uploading them into the slide 1,2,3 areas etc. and setting the slider to show custom slides as the option?
I found that if pics aren’t resized they can look very weird as they try and expand or shrink to fit the settings.
Also check you dont have a Nivo slider plug-in that might be causing conflict so maybe try deactivating likely culprits.
Id you have done all the above and it still doesn’t work then I’m at a bit of a loss.
I hope this helps

March 8th, 2014 at 06:49 #24259ZazzyI thought the slider was supposed to be able to show recent posts. The latest post option does not give the custom slide settings. I did try deactivating all plugins – but really I don’t have much going yet since I’m still working on the layout.
On Mantra, the slider at least tries to show the posts. On Tempera, nothing shows at all. I like both of these themes and perhaps I will end up just using the slider for images I particularly like – or maybe I will find another theme that does a slider or gallery of recent posts.
Thank you for trying to help.

Within the presentation page settings you can set slides to display latest posts, random posts or sticky posts. I don’t use posts on slider but I have just tried it out and it worked for me. I created an image the same proportions as the slider and set it as the featured image in a test post.
I hope this helps

March 9th, 2014 at 17:18 #24275ZazzyWell, thank you for your help. I’m not sure it’s going to do what I’m imagining, but I’m still playing around with ideas.

So in Tempera only the posts that have featured images assigned are considered. We’ll actually implement this in Mantra as well.
This ‘feature’ is noted in the help (hover over the question mark) in the Tempera settings. It says:
Only the slides with a defined image will become active and visible in the live slider.
When using slides from posts, make sure the selected posts have featured images. Before posting consider reading our short theme debugging instructions.

Is there a way, by the way, of disabling the slider entirely while keeping the other features of the presentation page?
March 19th, 2014 at 13:26 #24443JimHi
I have found that putting the slider dimension both to zero within Presentation Page settings will disable it.
I hope this helps
