when I add shortcode from a plugin to a new page, each line displays with the theme’s grey bullets. Is there any way to get rid of this without modifying the CSS? I am new to web design, and have not done that before.

I am having the same issue trying to use Category Grid View plugin. I want bullets in my posts, but not in my pages showing my category grid. I know that the bullets are an image. But I have no idea how to remove them only from the plugin pages and not from all my posts. I hope someone can post an answer to this.

You can only do this using custom CSS.
Without knowing the exact pages/sections the bullets need to be / not be visible, I cannot help you any further.
