UPDATE: I have resolved the issue that I was having with slider and now everything is functioning as advertised. I apologize for having jumped to the conclusion of a “bug” as this was not the case for me. I cannot speak for several others in this forum who seem to have had issues with the slider. It seems to me that there may be a real issue out there. But, again, Tempera is now working as I had hoped.
January 26th, 2016 at 12:54 #35339CJOk, using the fix suggested by WayneM (THANK YOU WAYNE! You saved my sanity) I got my presentation page back. If you’re trying this fix, give it time. It takes 10-20 minutes for the change to circulate through so you can see it. At first I thought it hadn’t worked. The remaining problem everyone is having is that the ‘Home’ or ‘Main’ page is no longer our presentation page. Is there a way to set this page so that it is our presentation page that comes up as our HOME page again? Cryout, it would be fabulous if you could help us with this, I don’t think Java is the problem. It’s the coding that’s causing the issues and we would LOVE your help with this. I still love this template and no way do I want to dump it because of a dodgy update. This stuff happens. But if anyone has managed to find a workaround for the Home page problemo, please let me know!
January 26th, 2016 at 13:04 #35340CJSo, it turns out WayneM already told us how to fix the homepage issues, but I wasn’t paying attention. You can’t leave your HOME page with its default menu address. You need to delete your home page from your menu and add a new HOME page with the URL manually entered of your website’s home page. The template defaults to yourwebsite/home, which, unless that’s what you called the presentation page, is the crappy header page FOR SOME REASON. Create a custom home page link of your real home page URL and Bob’s your uncle. I have my whole website back now. THANKS FOR SCARING THE CRAP OUT OF ME, CRYOUT. Nice one.
January 30th, 2016 at 22:15 #35398ZedCryout Creations mastermindTempera previously had a bug by which it displayed the presentation page (minus some styling) even when a static page was set as the homepage.
WordPress theme guidelines request that setting a static page takes precedence over theme settings, so we have corrected this in 1.4.0.1.If you have a static page set as the homepage, after the update WordPress will display that instead of the presentation page. To re-enable the presentation page, the Frontpage displays option (under Settings > Reading) need to be set to Your latest posts.
Additionally, your Home menu item may also point to this static page (which was previously replaced by the presentation page). You will need to correct it to point to the correct home location.
Finally, if you were previously assigning a blog page under Reading, this functionality is no longer available after returning to Latest posts. The matter can be solved by assigning the Blog page (posts list) page template to the page you want the posts list to be displayed on.
I am closing this thread as it got too long and too confusing. If anyone is still having issues with the presentation page, please start a new thread.
For anyone having slider issues, please start your own thread and provide a link to the site.
