Have just upgraded Tempera to version 1.2.0 (we use a child theme with a lot of our own CSS) and first of all have noticed that the menu down arrows for submenu items have changed to appear as a small map marker character. Digging deeper reveals that it seems that the character in the set has been changed from \e836 to \e80a. We were wondering why the characters in the font have apparently been moved around – this seems a very unusual thing to do? Or are we just interpreting our findings incorrectly?
After merging in the new Tempera CSS (we prefer to keep our CSS all in one child theme file as it seems to improve performance, so need to do a merge when we update the theme) everything is fine. I particularly prefer the new-look mobile menu.
It just seems strange that the font has been changed, though – can anyone shed any light on this?
We are using a minimal glyph font (with only the characters the theme was using), not the entire Elusive font file.
But we needed to add some more characters in the 1.2 update, so the glyphs got re-arranged.
